Due Date: April 19, 2013 (15 Weeks).
Description:
The personal archive is
an interesting thing when considered in light of social histories and shifting,
evolving concerns. You are asked to begin to record and sequence an archive of
images, sounds, and writing of your liking.
Concept and Structure:
You are required to open
a new blogger.com account. If you have an existing account you will still need
to create a new account specifically for this assignment (one could double or
re-post posts from/to your other account). You must syndicate a minimum of 7 posts a week. All posts must be online by 9am on the day of class. Periodically,
we will collectively look at each other’s blogs in class. Much of your research
for new works (both in this class and for others) should/could be posted on
your blog and referred to during individual meetings and critiques.
Objectives:
· To
contemplate a subjects, themes, and topics over time, reflecting on changing relations
to context and environment.
· To
consider narrative and alternate narrative structures.
· To
articulate what you like.
Process:
· You
will be given time in class to register and navigate the blogger interface.
· Find
images, videos, music, and writing on the Internet that you like and post them.
· Scan
images you like from magazines or books and post them.
· Photograph
things you like and post the images.
· Record
video of stuff and post it.
· Record
audio and post it.
· You
can link to your classmates’ blogs to follow their posts.
Additional Information:
·
It might be helpful for you to open a
specific Gmail account for this course if you prefer to keep your personal
social networks separate from course materials.

Your will be required to have access to a
Google Groups and Google Calendar as well as registration to media hosting websites
for video (Youtube, Vimeo, etc), audio (Soundcloud, etc), images(Flickr,
Photobucket, etc), and file transfer (Yousendit, Dropbox).
·
It may be helpful for you to link several of
your social media accounts to enable cross-posting and ease (Instagram, Vine, Tumblr,
etc…)
